Chengtai Nursery is a one-stop shop providing a large selection of plants, garden tools and supplies. Bringing a passionate group of gradeners, horticulturalists and pond specialists averaging 10 years of experience, we also excel in landscaping, pond and maintenance services.
The Beginning
Mr Tan Kim Kwang and his wife, Mdm Lim Chu Lian, have turned what started off as a hobby in rearing bonsai plants, into a passionate, full-fledged business.
Mr Tan had started to grow his bonsai plants when he was renting a property in Mandai Road many years ago. Unfortunately, when the property was handed back by the landlord, Mr Tan was left with little choice but to sell his precious bonsai. However, this did not deter him. Although he had to subsequently re-locate on a number of occasions, driven by his strong interest, and coupled with the unrelenting support of his wife, he never gave up this hobby .
It was at the couple’s fifth property in Defu Lane, that Chengtai Nursery Pte Ltd was finally established in 1990.
When the land lease at Defu Lane expired, Mr Tan moved Chengtai Nursery to its present location at 51 Sungei Tengah Road. This property has an enviable land area of ten acres.
As a result of the continuous effort taken to develop and improve the infrastructure of the land, Chengtai Nursery is now a tranquil and scenic garden, where visitors can enjoy scenic beauty and be one with nature. It is a place where one can free oneself from the hectic and busy city life.
Whilst maintaining and growing his exquisite Bonsai collection, Mr Tan has also made headway into other areas of horticultural services.
